From the day
Perspective: The Street Photographer · Sound
The heavy rattle of the subway train competes with a girl’s Bluetooth speaker nearby, which is blasting "Last Night" by Morgan Wallen for the third time this afternoon. I adjust the focus on my Leica, framing a group of teens in oversized mesh jerseys and baggy cargo pants that make my own slim-fit jeans feel hopelessly cheugy. The air smells of exhaust and expensive streetwear, thick with the frantic energy of a city obsessed with the next micro-trend. Between the clicks of my shutter, I catch snatches of conversation about AI passkeys and the latest Grogu drop, while the digital neon of a Super Mario Bros. poster reflects perfectly off a pair of lime green Crocs.
