From the day
Perspective: The Anxious Local · Sound
The roar of traffic is muffled by Flo Rida’s "Low" thumping from a passing sedan, a rhythmic vibration that makes my teeth ache as I stare at the $3.27 gas sign. Everything is getting too expensive, and while the radio says the writers' strike might finally end, I’m just worried if the local shop will hike the price of bread again tomorrow. I nearly tripped over a neighbor's kid playing with that screeching Wall-E Animatronic toy on the sidewalk; the robotic whirring and metallic chirps are driving me mad. Some newbie in a tech vest almost knocked me over while staring at his phone, probably checking those new "app" rumors, completely oblivious to the rising tension in the air.
