From the day
Perspective: The Future Historian · Tactile
The grit of cheap, injection-molded plastic scrapes against my palm as I tinker with this clunky Wall-E animatronic, its mechanical whirring echoing through an era of false equity and subprime dread. My fingers twitch over the tactile keyboard of a heavy laptop, waiting for the sleek promises of a rumored App Store or a better way to browse with Chrome to finally replace this sluggish, crashing reality. I scroll past headlines of lawsuits and collapsing home prices, adjusted for the frantic tempo of "Low" pulsing from my tinny speakers; it’s enough to make me type "rofl" just to mask the growing economic chill. Beneath my polyester-blend hoodie, the air feels thin, as if we are all collectively holding our breath for the digital salvation of Spotify or the birth of Android to distract us from the wood-pulp-scented decay of the housing market.
