From the day
Perspective: The Anxious Local · Sound
The static on my car radio is driving me mad, and I nearly choked at the pump when I saw gas hit three twenty-seven a gallon. I can’t escape that thumping bass of "Low" by Flo Rida coming from the sedan next to me, vibrating my windows while the news anchor drones on about Isiah Thomas’s delusional title talk. Everything feels fragile today, like our bank accounts are just waiting for the tribe to speak and vote us off. I’m trying to stay upbeat for my nephew’s birthday—rawr, I guess—but looking at the price of that new animatronic Wall-E makes my stomach do backflips.
