From the day
Perspective: The Street Photographer · Sight
The wet pavement reflects a kaleidoscope of emerald Christmas lights and the golden glow of Alicia Keys drifting from a passing SUV. I’m framing a shot of a teenager in a metallic puffer jacket, her face illuminated by the crisp glow of a first-gen iPhone while she lets out a high-pitched squee at a text. Across the street, a businessman tucks a brand new Kindle under his arm, ignoring the newspaper headlines about the quiet holiday trim. It’s a strange, transitionary season; everyone is staring at these new Android and Apple screens, trading the grit of the city for a digital hum that I can’t quite capture on film yet.
