From the day
Perspective: The Street Photographer · Sight
The cold December rain glares off the concrete, reflecting the neon hum of an electronics store window where a row of iPhones glow like holy relics. I catch a girl in a massive knit scarf letting out a high-pitched "squee" as she peels the plastic off her new device, her low-rise jeans dragging through the slush. Behind her, the gas station sign mocks me with that $2.27 figure, a price that feels like a slow bleed when you're living off rolls of film and street meat. Alicia Keys blares from a passing SUV, the bass thumping against the grit of the sidewalk while I wait for the perfect silhouette to cross the frame.
