From the day
Perspective: The Street Photographer · Tactile
The cold metal of my Leica bites into my palms, but I’m focused on a kid on the corner, his thumb swiping the glass of a first-generation iPhone with the clumsy grace of a tech newbie. He's bundled in a heavy fleece pullover, the static from the polyester crackling every time he shifts to the beat of "No One" blaring from a nearby storefront. The air tastes like damp asphalt and cheap exhaust, thick with the tension of a city that feels a little too sketchy lately. I catch the reflection of neon holiday lights in his screen, the sleek aluminum casing of the device a sharp, polished contrast to the grit of the sidewalk.
