From the day
Perspective: The Street Photographer · Tactile
The damp chill of November bites through my denim jacket as I track a teenager leaning against a brick wall, his thumbs dancing over the glass screen of a brand-new iPhone (1st Gen). The aluminum back of the device catches the gray afternoon light, looking impossibly smooth against his frayed polyester hoodie and the grit of the sidewalk. I almost let out a "rofl" seeing him ignore the world for a glowing rectangle, but I’m too busy trying to capture the way his thumb smudges the polished surface. There's a strange tension in the air today, a mix of high-tech obsession and the heavy news of that exonerated woman finally shedding her prison greys.
