From the day
Perspective: The Street Photographer · Tactile
The damp chill of November bites through my corduroy jacket as I scout the sidewalk, my fingers tracing the cold, knurled metal of my shutter dial. A woman in a velour tracksuit stops under a streetlight to slide her thumb across a glass screen, the glow of that brand new iPhone (1st Gen) illuminating her face in a ghostly, modern blue. She holds it like a fragile jewel, a stark contrast to the gritty, asphalt-stained sneakers of the crowd pulsing around her. I consider snapping her portrait, but she’s already whispering into a headset, sharing way too much "tmi" for the whole block to hear.
