From the day
Perspective: The Street Photographer · Tactile
The slush on the sidewalk soaks into my canvas sneakers as a girl in a tight polyester track jacket struts past, her fingers dancing over the sleek, cold glass of a brand-new iPhone. She’s shouting "to the left, to the left" along with the Beyoncé blast vibrating from a nearby storefront, the beat thumping against my ribs like a physical weight. I catch the light hitting her oversized plastic sunglasses and feel a sudden "squee" of excitement, clicking the shutter just as she adjusts her low-rise denim. The gritty air smells of exhaust and expensive perfume, a sharp contrast to the biting winter wind.
