From the day
Perspective: The Teenager · Sound
The tinny blast of Beyoncé’s "Irreplaceable" leaks out of my neighbor’s headphones while we wait for the bus, but all I can hear is the frantic tapping of my own thumbs. Everyone is buzzing about that insane iPhone Steve Jobs just showed off, and I’m literally dying inside because my heavy plastic flip phone feels like a total relic from the Stone Age now. I need to hit the mall and check my MySpace messages at the kiosk, so brb while I go beg my mom for an upgrade I definitely can't afford. The screech of the bus brakes drowns out the street noise, but I can't stop staring at the glossy magazine photos of that touch screen.
