From the day
Perspective: The Anxious Local · Sound
The rhythmic pulse of Justin Timberlake’s "My Love" thumps through the speakers of the car idling next to me, but I can’t stop staring at the glowing sign for **$2.27**. That gas price is a total nightmare compared to last year, and I’m shaking as I check my Flip phone to see if my shift at the mall starts early. Everyone is screaming about the Nintendo Wii launch, and the rawr of the crowd at the electronics store is enough to make my head spin. I just want to drown out the city's frantic hum with my iPod and hope the world doesn't end before payday.
