From the day
Perspective: The Street Photographer · Tactile
The humid June air clings to my lens as I track a teenager in an oversized velour tracksuit, his thumbs flying across a Motorola Razr while he hums that "Ridin'" hook under his breath. I watch him pause at a storefront window to stare at the sleek, bone-white plastic of a Nintendo Wii, his fingers tracing the glass as if he can already feel the weight of the motion controller. Nearby, a businessman in a stiff, boxy suit checks his Blackberry, nearly tripping over a stack of *Cars* lunchboxes made of that cheap, crinkly tin. I caught a shot of a skater wipes out hard on the curb, his friend shouting "rofl" instead of helping him up, the gritty asphalt scraping against worn denim and frayed cotton.
