From the day
Perspective: The Street Photographer · Tactile
The damp November air clings to the rough wool of my pea coat as I watch a kid on the subway scramble to poke the buttons of a Robosapien, its hard plastic limbs clicking rhythmically against his polyester track jacket. I’m leaning against the flickering ads, humming that Sean Paul hook from a track I just grabbed off the iTunes Store, while a guy next to me on his laptop tries to get a signal for a Skype call that sounds like static. It feels a bit sketchy down here with the news of the Riyadh bombings looming in the morning papers, everyone huddled in their denim and fleece, just trying to get home. My fingers are numb as I swap out my film, glancing at a guy clutching a Blu-ray disc like it’s a piece of the future while the world outside feels fragile.
