From the day
Perspective: The Street Photographer · Sound
The humid August heat bounces off the asphalt as Nelly’s "Dilemma" pulses from a nearby car window, competing with the frantic clatter of plastic Beyblades on the sidewalk. I’m squinting through my viewfinder at a woman in low-rise flare jeans who’s tossing a folded newspaper into a trash can; the headline about that sex-bias suit against Ford being dismissed on trial remarks catches the light before she shoves it down. She catches me looking and tosses out a quick "brb" to her friend while checking her reflection in a shop window. Everything feels frantic today, a blur of grainy camera phone flashes and the smell of cheap gasoline.
