From the day
Perspective: The Street Photographer · Sound
The shutter clicks on a girl in low-rise flares clutching a Bratz doll, her reflection ghosting against a storefront window plastered with grim headlines about anthrax scares. A silver Lexus idles nearby, rattling its trunk to the heavy bass of *I'm Real (Murder Remix)*, Ja Rule’s gravelly voice drowning out the uneasy chatter of commuters. The air tastes of exhaust and expensive lattes, a sharp contrast to the sketchy vibe of a city still vibrating with post-September tension. I wind the film, watching a businessman frantically check his pager while the anthem of the autumn keeps thumping from every passing subwoofer.
