From the day
Perspective: The Street Photographer · Sight
The low afternoon sun catches the sharp silhouettes of cargo pants and chunky sneakers dodging the grit of a shell-shocked Midtown. I frame a shot of a teenager clutching a Bratz doll box, her eyes fixed on the bold headlines questioning the morality of the very action films that used to line our screens. I duck into the corner bodega, sighing as I hand over $1.03 for a single loaf of white bread, the price hike feeling like a personal insult in this heavy air. The clerk is rambling about his morning in way too much detail—honestly, it’s a bit tmi given the world is ending—so I just tune him out and focus on the neon glow of the shop window reflecting off my lens.
