From the day
Perspective: The Teenager · Tactile
I’m slouching on the bus with the rough, denim-on-denim friction of my low-rise jeans rubbing against my seat, fiddling with the stiff plastic packaging of a new Bratz doll I bought for my sister. My palms are sweaty from gripping my Discman, but I’m totally spacey while J.Lo and Ja Rule’s remix thumps through the cheap foam of my headphones. Some **newbie** kid in the back is loud, but I’m just staring at the newspaper stand outside, spotting the word **INSIDE** on a glossy cover while I feel the smooth, metallic chill of my locker key. I’m just ready to get home and see if any of my peeps are online so we can ignore our homework and just rot.
