From the day
Perspective: The Street Photographer · Sound
The heavy humidity of August clings to the low-rise jeans and butterfly clips of the girls posing near my lens, while Alicia Keys’ "Fallin’" drifts out of a passing SUV’s open windows. I duck into the bodega to escape the glare, grumbling as I toss **$1.03** onto the counter for a scratchy loaf of white bread that feels lighter every week. A group of skaters dodges a cab, shouting "rawr" at a girl with a digital camera, their baggy cargo pants dragging against the grit of the sidewalk. The city feels loud and restless today, humming with the static of a world that’s changing faster than my shutter speed can keep up with.
