From the day
Perspective: The Street Photographer · Tactile
The sun beats down on the asphalt, making the heavy denim of my low-rise jeans chafe against my hips as I frame a shot of a girl clutching a brand-new Bratz doll. The doll's vinyl skin feels slick and synthetic compared to the coarse, glitter-flecked polyester of the girl's butterfly clip, a sharp contrast I’m desperate to capture on film. I lean against a brick wall plastered with posters for *A.I. Artificial Intelligence*, wondering if robots ever feel this humid, gritty heat. A group of skaters thrashes past, one shouting "rawr" at my lens, his baggy cargo shorts snapping like a whip in the heavy summer air.
