From the day
Perspective: The Street Photographer · Sight
The flash of my Leica cuts through the steely Manhattan drizzle, freezing a trio of girls in low-rise flares and puffer jackets as they strut past a row of yellow cabs. They’re shouting over the boombox bass of "Independent Women," their breath blooming like smoke against the neon signage of a nearby arcade. I adjust my shutter speed, capturing the grit of the wet sidewalk littered with discarded newspapers headlining Catholic school successes. Rawr—that leopard-print bucket hat on the girl in front is the perfect silhouette against the gray winter sky.
