From the day

Perspective: The Teenager · Tactile

The scratchy velour of my track jacket rubsa against my neck as I lean against the brick wall, watching my peeps fail kickflips on the sidewalk. My shins are a mess of purple bruises from the cold, aircraft-grade aluminum of my Razor Scooter, but it was worth every penny just to glide past the theater lines for *M:I-2*. The metallic threads in my low-rise jeans catch the harsh afternoon sun while Santana’s guitar blares from a nearby boombox. Reaching into my pocket, the smooth plastic of my Nokia feels like the future, even if my thumb is already sore from texting everyone to meet up before the sun goes down.
