From the day
Perspective: The Teenager · Sound
The street is a loud mess of static and gum-snapping, with "Believe" by Cher blasting so hard from a passing Jetta that the bass rattler makes my teeth ache. My buddy is trying to talk me into seeing *Forces of Nature* at the mall later, but I’m too busy trying to trade a holographic Charizard for his rare deck while the screech of a dial-up modem echoes from the open window above us. I’m tugging at the cuffs of my oversized red flannel, feeling the spring breeze cut through the heavy cotton as a bus hisses past. The world sounds like a chaotic mix of heavy plastic walkmans and the constant clicking of a BlackBerry, making everything feel fast and loud all at once.
