From the day
Perspective: The Street Photographer · Sound
The heavy beat of "Mo Money Mo Problems" thumps from a passing Jeep, vibrating against my ribs while I focus my lens on a woman in a nylon tracksuit clutching a digital Tamagotchi. The city air is a chaotic symphony of construction clatter and the high-pitched chirp of new pagers, punctuated by the metallic scent of exhaust. I glance at the corner station’s sign where gas has hit $1.15, a total buzzkill for my weekend plans to scout locations upstate. Just as I frame a shot of a businessman shouting into a chunky Motorola, the roar of a bus drowns out the street's rhythm, leaving me waiting for the next flash of neon and grit.
