From the day
Perspective: The Street Photographer · Sight
The July humidity clings to the oversized nylon windbreakers of the kids loitering outside the theater, their silhouettes blurred by the flickering neon marquee for *Air Force One*. I frame a shot of a girl in platform sneakers, her face illuminated by the green glow of a tiny plastic egg on a keychain; she’s frantically pressing buttons to feed her Tamagotchi before it pixels out of existence. Scanning the newsstand, the headlines about sentencing gaps and drug wars are a total buzzkill compared to the rhythmic bass of Puff Daddy thumping from a passing sedan. I snap a final frame of a man in a sharp, baggy suit stepping out of a cab, his reflection shimmering in a puddle as the city lights turn the wet asphalt into a kaleidoscope of 1997 grit.
