From the day
Perspective: The Street Photographer · Sound
The sun catches the satin of a girl’s slip dress as she cruises past, her knee-high socks disappearing into the crowd while "Gangsta's Paradise" rattles the trunk of a passing sedan. I squint through my viewfinder, framing a kid sitting on the curb obsessed with his stack of Pogs, oblivious to the digital roar of the new information superhighway being built in some distant office. I thumb through the Sunday paper gripped in my jacket pocket, glancing at the **ALSO INSIDE** teaser before focusing back on the grit of the pavement. The air smells like cheap gasoline and burnt coffee, a perfect, grainy afternoon to capture this world before it all dissolves into cyberspace.
