From the day
Perspective: The Street Photographer · Sight
The flash of my Nikon catches a flash of plaid; a girl in a satin slip dress and knee-high socks struts past, her tiny backpack bouncing against her spine. Beyond her, the neon glow of the cinema marquee bleeds onto the damp pavement, screaming *Man of the House* in jagged, electric letters. I pull my collar up against the February chill, watching a group of teenagers trade Pogs on a subway grate, completely indifferent to the "Business Digest" headlines tumbling down the gutter. One girl rolls her eyes, muttering a sharp "whatever" as she mimics a pose from the Madonna track thumping out of a nearby storefront.
