From the day

Perspective: The Teenager · Sound

The bass from Kris Kross is rattling the trunk of my hoopie so hard the rearview mirror is just a blur, but my real problem is the pump clicking off at exactly **$1.16** because that’s all the change I could scrape from under the floorboards. Watching that digital dial stop so short is a total buzzkill, especially since I need enough fuel to cruise the strip until the streetlights hum. I adjust my oversized flannel and turn the volume up, drowning out the screech of city buses with that "Jump" beat while I think about finding some sweet speakers that can actually handle the noise. It feels like the whole world is just static and heavy drums today.
