From the day

Perspective: The Anxious Local · Tactile

The rough wool of my oversized flannel scratchily rubs against these ripped denim knees as I hunch over the counter, sweating because gas just jumped to $1.16 a gallon. Between the scary news about testing experimental drugs overseas and my boss trippin’ over that new HTML code stuff, I can barely focus on this heavy, plastic Super Nintendo I'm meant to be saving for. I’m nervously smoothing out a seventy-cent loaf of bread, wishing I could just disappear into one of those crisp images from Photoshop 1.0 or float away with the Hubble Telescope. Everything feels too fast and too pricey, like a grainy blur I can't quite sharpen.
