From the day

Perspective: The Teenager · Sound

The street noise is a total buzzkill, just a humid blur of screeching brakes and some old guy yelling about the news, but then that New Jack Swing beat kicks in from a passing Jeep. I’m leaning against the brick wall in my ripped jeans, nodding along as Glenn Medeiros and Bobby Brown belt out "She Ain't Worth It" for the tenth time today. The bass thumps right through my Doc Martens, drowning out the world until my brother starts whining about wanting a Super Nintendo. I just roll my eyes and tell him, "whatever," before turning my walkman up to lose myself in the rhythm again.
