From the day

Perspective: The Street Photographer · Sight

The neon hum of the diner reflects off a kid in a shredded flannel shirt, his Doc Martens scuffing the pavement as he leans against a newsstand. I frame the shot, capturing the grit of his layered grunge silhouette against a backdrop of headlines boasting about some new telescope launched into the stars. I lower my Leica, fishing through my pockets for $0.70 to grab a loaf of bread on the way home, grumbling as the price keeps climbing while these kids just play it cool. Some older guy calls the boy a slacker for just drifting there, but through my lens, his unkempt rebellion is the only thing worth developing.
