From the day

Perspective: The Anxious Local · Sound

The radio is blaring that relentless "She Drives Me Crazy" beat again, competing with the frantic static of my neighbor’s new cordless phone. Everything feels too fast, especially with those rumors of a civilian GPS or whatever tech they’re pushing at the Waterbury Mall. I just need to chill, but staring at the receipt for this single loaf of bread makes my heart race—**$0.55** for flour and water is highway robbery, plain and simple. If prices and these lease-buy schemes keep climbing, I’m going to have to trade in my car for a pair of sneakers.
