From the day
Perspective: The Future Historian · Sound
The rhythmic chirp of Roxette’s "The Look" spills from a passing sedan, competing with the static hum of a city on the brink of an information explosion. My colleague is obsessing over a typed proposal for something called a "World Wide Web," while I’m distracted by the hypnotic, metallic pings of a coworker’s new Game Boy during our lunch break. It is truly awesome how the screech of fax machines now blends with whispers of civilian GPS signals charting the unknown. Beneath the noise of the traffic, you can almost hear the old Soviet structures cracking, replaced by the digital heartbeat of a world suddenly finding its coordinates.
