From the day
Perspective: The Street Photographer · Tactile
The wind off the Hudson bites through my oversized denim jacket, catching the edges of the grainy Nikon strap rubbing against my neck. I frame a kid on the corner gripping a plastic Michelangelo turtle, the neon green toy feeling solid and rugged against his stiff nylon parka. Stopping at the Mobil, I scowl at the pump as it ticks up to $1.12 a gallon—def pricey for a Saturday morning when film rolls aren't cheap. I adjust my focus on the blur of acid-washed jeans and bulky Reebok pumps hitting the pavement, everyone moving fast under a sky the color of cold slate.
