From the day
Perspective: The Street Photographer · Tactile
The biting February wind whips through heavy wool overcoats and stiff denim jackets as I frame a shot of a kid clutching a blister pack of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles figures. The molded green plastic of the Leonardo toy catches the harsh winter sun, looking absolutely fresh against the gritty, salt-stained slush of the sidewalk. I adjust my focus, my fingers numb against the cold metal of my Leica while the synth-pop beat of "Seasons Change" drifts out from a nearby electronics shop. Everyone is buzzing about the Winter Games, but here on the street, it’s all about the tactile crunch of snow and the smooth, vibrant nylon of neon windbreakers.
