From the day

Perspective: The Street Photographer · Tactile

The cold morning light catches the oily sheen of a discarded *TMNT* turtle figure, its hard green plastic slick with slush against the sidewalk. I track a businessman in a heavy wool overcoat yelling into a new digital cellular brick, his face flushed red as he shouts about the undersea fiber optic cables finally bridging the Atlantic. Through my viewfinder, the grainy street life looks almost grody, but the Doppler radar on the news says clearer skies are coming. I click the shutter just as a kid in a stiff denim jacket skips past, humming that INXS track while the bitter January wind stings my knuckles.
