From the day

Perspective: The Teenager · Sound

The static on my Walkman finally bleeds into the synth-heavy chords of Cutting Crew, drowning out the roar of a passing bus. I’m leaning against the brick alleyway, lacing up my high-tops and trying to ignore my buddy Dave ranting about interest rates and some governor’s tax flip-flop he heard on the news. I just want to head to the theater to see *The Secret of My Success* again because Michael J. Fox is a total legend. That suit he wears is so fresh, and the upbeat soundtrack is the only thing that makes this boring Tuesday feel like a real movie.
