From the day
Perspective: The Street Photographer · Sight
The flash from my Leica catches the sharp shoulder pads of a woman in a power suit, her silhouette looking fly against the grainy, winter steam rising from a Manhattan grate. I stop at the corner deli, digging through my pockets for $0.55 just to grab a loaf of bread, swearing the price climbed while I was busy loading my film. The newsstand is a blur of bold Business Digest headlines and neon movie posters for *Platoon*, reflecting off the damp pavement like spilled oil. A kid nearby is obsessing over a frantic game of Jenga in a shop window, but I’m focused on the way the flickering red traffic light turns the city into a strobe light.
