From the day
Perspective: The Anxious Local · Sound
The static on my radio is driving me mad, especially with the news blaring about those four Russians snatched in Beirut while gas prices creep up past a buck twelve. I try to drown out the dread by cranking *Money for Nothing*, but that stinging guitar riff just reminds me I can't even afford that new Nintendo system for the kids. It’s awesome music, I guess, but the world feels like it's fraying at the edges today. Between the cost of a simple loaf of bread and the tension in the announcer's voice, I can’t tell if I’m shivering from the autumn chill or pure nerves.
