From the day
Perspective: The Street Photographer · Tactile
I steady my Leica as a crowd of panicked men in stiff polyester suits huddle outside the locked bank doors, their rough wool overcoats catching the grit of a grey March wind. Across the street at the station, I grit my teeth at the pump, watching the red numbers flicker toward $1.12 a gallon before moving on to find a better frame. Through my lens, a kid in a denim jacket leans against a brick wall, his fingers twitching as if he’s still tapping the plastic buttons of an awesome new Nintendo. His clothes smell of damp pavement and cheap tobacco, a sharp contrast to the soft, synthetic hum of the city trying to keep its composure.
