From the day
Perspective: The Street Photographer · Tactile
The humid morning air bites through my oversized sweatshirt as I frame a shot of a kid clutching a plastic Transformer; the toy’s jagged, molded edges click as he snaps the limbs into place. The sidewalk is a blur of spandex leggings and sweat-soaked headbands, a textured mess of neon nylon and grit that feels real under my fingertips. I stop by a shop window to eye that sleazy, beautiful Apple Macintosh, imagining my rolls of film replaced by that new flash memory or a shiny CD-ROM. It’s a dope piece of tech, but for now, I’ll just stick to the tactile click of my shutter and the heavy smell of exhaust from a Newark-bound bus.
