From the day

Perspective: The Anxious Local · Sound

The static on my Zenith is driving me crazy, constantly blaring about the Soviets and factory managers while Sting keeps singing about every breath I take, like someone is actually watching me. Gas just hit $1.19 a gallon, and I’m sweating over the price of bread while the kids scream for those creepy Cabbage Patch Kids that I can't even find. I tried to escape the heat at the cinema today, and honestly, seeing Chevy Chase lose his mind in *National Lampoon's Vacation* was totally awesome, even if the ticket cost me a small fortune. Between the thrum of the air conditioner and the constant talk of these new "internet" standards, the world feels like it's spinning too fast to catch my breath.
