From the day
Perspective: The Street Photographer · Sight
The morning sun hits the newsstand, illuminating a headline about tanks near Lebanon that makes the air feel heavy despite the spring breeze. I pull my Leica to my eye, framing a girl in a neon windbreaker who is clutching a brand-new My Little Pony with a lavender mane; the plastic shimmer looks almost dreamlike against the gray pavement. She passes a boy in a denim vest humming Joan Jett, his Walkman clipped to a belt made of cheap, cheesy imitation leather. My shutter clicks, capturing the flash of a polished Cadillac and the flicker of a movie marquee reflected in a nearby puddle.
