From the day

Perspective: The Anxious Local · Sound

The radio is blastin' "Centerfold" so loud it’s rattling my nerves, but I can’t stop thinking about gas hitting over a buck-nineteen a gallon while folks talk about this Adobe PostScript thing changing everything. Between the noise of the traffic and the kids begging for that new Commodore 64 or a shiny Compact Disc, my wallet feels lighter by the second. It’s truly awesome if you’ve got the cash, but with Mayor Young's new plans for the city looming, I’m just trying to keep my head above water. Every time I hear that digital hum of new tech, all I can think about is the fifty cents I just dropped on a single loaf of bread.
