From the day
Perspective: The Street Photographer · Sight
The flash of my Nikon catches the sharp chrome of a passing Cadillac, reflecting the neon pink leg warmers of a girl humming "Physical" as she checks her reflection in a shop window. Everywhere I turn, the silhouette of New York is shifting; heavy wool overcoats clash with the sleek, synthetic sheen of new puffer jackets, while kids on the corner trade rumors of those awesome new He-Man toys. I pass a newsstand where the black-and-white headlines scream about B-1 bomber production out on Long Island, a cold contrast to the warm glow of the theater marquee still boasting *Raiders of the Lost Ark*. The air smells of roasted nuts and wet pavement, a gritty backdrop for the high-waisted denim and feathered hair pulsing through the December slush.
