From the day

Perspective: The Teenager · Sight

The bass from Queen’s "Another One Bites the Dust" thumps through my headphones while I stare at the neon pink leg warmers clashing against my oversized shoulder pads. My dad is hunched over the kitchen table, gripping the newspaper with white knuckles as the headline says Reagan wins presidency amid Cold War anxiety, his face looking totally stressed about the nukes. It’s honestly such a heavy vibe, so I just focus on twisting my Rubik’s Cube and hoping my perm doesn't fall flat before the party tonight. Life is getting way too intense, but my new sequin jacket looks totally awesome under the mall lights.
