From the day

Perspective: The Teenager · Tactile

I’m slouched on the bus in my neon windbreaker, the slick Lycra crinkling against the seat while I try to pick at my stiff, hairsprayed perm. My fingers are sore from twisting that frustrating Rubik's Cube all morning, the cheap plastic squares clicking and snagging until I just want to hurl it out the window. As if I’m actually going to solve it before we get to school and I have to hear that cheesy Captain & Tennille song on the radio again. I just adjust my shoulder pads, shove my headphones on, and dream of being as bodacious as someone in *American Gigolo*.
