From the day

Perspective: The Street Photographer · Tactile

The sun glints harshly off a polished sedan where a man in a stiff wool suit huffs about gas hitting $0.30 a gallon, his fingers nervously fumbling with a sleek Duncan Yo-Yo. I frame the shot, capturing the rough grain of his fedora against the soft, fluid silk of a passing flapper’s dress as she ignores him. Down the block, a shifty-eyed fella leans against a brick wall, looking every bit the stool pigeon waiting for a payoff. I snap the shutter just as he adjusts his heavy tweed lapels, the metallic click of my Leica lost in the city's thick, humid roar.
