From the day
Perspective: The Street Photographer · Tactile
The autumn wind whips the heavy wool of passing overcoats, and I struggle to keep my fingers steady against the cold brass of my camera. A young boy stops to stare at a window display, clutching a box of cold, jagged Erector Set steel that looks like it’ll freeze his tiny hands solid before he gets it home. I check my pockets and find only a few lousy pennies, certainly not enough to satisfy the man at the station demanding $0.15 for a single gallon of gasoline. Instead, I’ll keep walking, my boots clicking against the pavement as I hunt for one last shot of a silk-scarved lady before the sun dips behind the soot-stained skyline.
