From the day

Perspective: The Street Photographer · Sight

The damp cobblestones catch the glow of the gas lamps as I frame a shot of a gentleman in a heavy wool ulster, his silhouette sharp against the morning fog. Gadzooks, the city is a blur of motion today with newsboys shouting that Miss Sjostedt is finally free, their ink-stained hands fluttering like pigeons. The sharp scent of coal smoke mingles with the vapor from the filling station, where a motorist grumbles about shelling out $0.10 for a single gallon of fuel. I adjust my lens, capturing the winter light reflecting off the brass trim of his motorcar before the moment vanishes.
